VAGABONDS MENU IN MARCH

What new is happening on culinary sector in Finca Sofia. At least we will introduce a new Vagabond's Menu.Everybody who will participate the" Rambla Salada de Albatera" trekking happening will have a possibility  later in the  afternoon to enjoy the new day's menu .More information and the route one can look searching in internet and printing: es.wikiloc.com and choosing the category "rutas en Espana"and then writing "finca sofia - rambla salada".
VAGABOND'S MENU
1st plate: smoked mussels a'la Chef
2nd plate: tomato soup a'la Murciana
3rd plate : grilled pork with boiled poatoes
dessert: coffee or tea and "tiger cake"

JAIME EL BARBUDO WAS HERE!

One of the famous bandits in Spanish history was without any doubts Jaime El Barbudo. His real name was Jaime Cayetano Alfonso, born in 1783 and he was hanged at Plaza de Santo Domingo, Murcia  15.7.1824 .His body was cut in 5 pieces and his head was at view in Crevillente.Some local stories confirm that there was a Tasca (Pub in English) in those days here in Los Vives, which he visited frequently. Some kilometers western from Finca Sofia starts a small mountain group called Sierra de Pila, where he had one of his hiding places , a cave called Cueva de Excomunion.If somebody is interested in reading more details of his past, there are lot of information in internet.

ALMOND AND HOTTENTOT FIG

The common almond (Amygdalus communis) blooming near the main house. This variety has pink flowers ,whilst the average almond tree here in this area has white flowers.The green mat under the tree is a South-African origin succulent plant called Hottentot Fig (Carpobrotus edulis). Also it's leaves and fruits are edible.
