In April we have chicken theme in our food experiments. Open fire , hot spices and colorful vegetables characterize our spring time cuisine, and the menu is dedicated to a local bandit from the 18th century, called Jaime El Barbudo. Here is the MENU OF JAIME EL BARBUDO: Champignon (mushroom) soup , Pinchitos de longaniza roja (barbecued Spanish raw, red sausage with paprika powder), Hot wings with rice and for dessert, coffee prepared with open fire.
Also we will study and open a new trekking route following Jaime's footprints in Rio Chicamo, Abanilla.

THE OLD FARMHOUSE IS ALSO SOMETHING ELSE!
The expression Finca Sofia keeps in many things. It is a veritable place in Vega Baja in Comunidad Valenciana near Murcia province.
We have a real wine cellar and in www.vikingdrinks.blogspot.com it is called Frigga's Wine Cellar. In our daily life we use so much our own food products, that is possible. We are testing old food cooking methods and ovens. In www.thorsfoodgallery.blogspot.com one can read and learn about old Scandinavian ethnic and rural food receipts and their secrets with Chef Thor.
Imp's Father is entertaining readers with hard ironical attitude about daily politics and ecological sustainability in The Diary of IMP'S FATHER. The Blogs you can read in www.scanpolarofverberg.blogspot.com. With some words Finca Sofia is a philosophy and life style to live well and in harmony with the nature and old ethnic traditions.

JAIME EL BARBUDO WAS HERE!
One of the famous bandits in Spanish history was without any doubts Jaime El Barbudo. His real name was Jaime Cayetano Alfonso, born in 1783 and he was hanged at Plaza de Santo Domingo, Murcia 15.7.1824 .His body was cut in 5 pieces and his head was at view in Crevillente. Some local stories confirm that there was a Tasca (Pub in English) in those days here in Los Vives, which he visited frequently. Some kilometers western from Finca Sofia starts a small mountain group called Sierra de Pila, where he had one of his hiding places , a cave called Cueva de Excomunion. If somebody is interested in reading more details of his past, there are lot of information in internet.
